Before I talk about me, let’s talk about you. You’re introspective. You think about what you think about. You have awareness of your feelings with regard to how and when they vary. Your feelings, thoughts and behaviours are real for you, and can be very personal. At times, you struggle. Sometimes, you struggle a great deal.
Even when you aren’t presently struggling, you desire to feel confident in your abilities to cope with struggle should it arise. You want to clear some of that valuable mind-space. You want to achieve your goals. You want greater fulfillment. You know you can be happier, and you’re not sure where to begin.
That’s where I come in.
I am an Ivy League trained and Canadian certified counsellor. Trained at Columbia University in New York City, I look to Cognitive-Behavioural (CBT) therapy, Dialectical Behaviour therapy (DBT) techniques, the Here-and-Now, and sex therapy principles to help my clients tackle their concerns. It is unlikely that you will shock me, and it is unlikely that you will not feel your concerns are unique and important. My work is non-judgmental and allows for mutual empathy as we develop our working alliance.
I am constantly seeking the up-to-date research in terms of effective, ethical clinical practice. I do not engage in copy-paste therapy, as you bring at least half of every session. I believe you can meet your goals. You know yourself best; I know how to help you get at information you may have forgotten about, avoid or not yet acknowledged. I will help you make links to improve your self-understanding. In order to grasp, or let-go, you may need to tell your story. I am ready to actively listen.
